Feel tired lately? Has a doctor said he can’t find anything wrong with you? Perhaps he sent you to a hospital, but all the advanced equipment there shows that there is nothing wrong with you.

Then, consider this: you might be in a state of subhealth.

Subhealth, also called the third state or the gray state, is explained as a borderline state between health and disease.

According to the investigation by the National health Organization, over 45 percent of subhealth people are middle-aged or elderly. The percentage is even higher among people who work in management positions as well as students around exam-weeks.

Symptoms include a lack of energy, depression , slow reactions, insomnia (失眠), agitation, and poor memory. Other symptoms include shortness of breath, sweating and aching in the waist and legs.

The key to preventing and recovering from subhealth, according to some medical experts, is to form good living habits, alternate work and rest, exercise regularly, and take part in open air activities.

As for meals, people are advised to eat less salt and sugar. They should also eat more fresh vegetables, fruits, fish because they are rich in nutritional elements—vitamins and trace elements that are important to the body.

Passage Three

Tibetan architecture has been influenced by Chinese culture as well as Indian culture, and reflects a deeply Buddhist approach. The Buddhist wheel, along with two dragons, can be seen on nearly every Buddhist temple whose designs and inside details are different in Tibet. The design of the Tibetan towers can be different, from roundish walls in the western areas of Tibet to squarish, four-sided walls in Ladakh, an area near Himalayas which is known for its remote mountain beauty.

The most unusual feature of Tibetan architecture is that many of the houses and temples are built on elevated, sunny sites facing the south, and are often made out of a mixture of rocks, wood, cement and earth. Little fuel is available for heating or lighting, so flat roofs are built to keep heat inside, and multiple windows are built to let in sunlight. Walls are usually sloped inwards at 10 degrees as a measure to fight against frequent earthquakes in the mountainous area.

Standing at 117 meters in height and 360 meters in width, the Potala Palace, which means the holy land of Buddhism, is considered as the most important example of Tibetan architecture. Formerly the living place of the Dalai Lama, it contains over a thousand rooms within thirteen stories, and houses portraits of the past Dalai Lamas and statues of the Buddha. It is divided into the outer White Palace, which serves as the administrative quarters, and the inner Red Palace, which contains the assembly hall of the Lamas and a vast library of Buddhist scriptures (經(jīng)文). It is now a statemuseum of China and a popular tourist attraction.

The Internet has opened up a whole new online world for us to meet and chat. But just as in face-to-face communication, there are some basic rules that should be 76 when online.

The basic rule is simple: treat others in the same 77 you would want to be treated. Imagine how you’d feel if you were in the other person’s shoes.

For anything you are about to send: ask yourself, “Would I say this to the person’s face?” If the answer is no, rewrite and reread. Repeat till you feel 78 that you’d feel comfortable saying the words to the person’s face.

79 someone in the chat room is impolite to you, your instinct is to fire back in the same way. 80 try not to do so. You should ignore the person. If it was caused by a disagreement with another member, try to fix the situation by politely discussing it. Remember to 81 opinions of others in chat room.

Everyone was new to the network once. Offer advice when asked by newcomers, as they may not be sure what to do or how to communicate. When someone makes mistake, whether it’s a stupid question 82 an unnecessary and long answer, be kind about it. If it’s a small mistake, you may not need to say anything. 83 if you feel strongly about it, think twice before saying anything. Having good manners doesn’t give you license to correct everyone else.

If you do decide to tell someone about a mistake, point it out 84 At the same time, if you find you are wrong, correct it and say sorry.

英語試卷二:參考作文

Nowadays it is a trend for Chinese to learn English. Without certain certificates showing their English ability, it may be hard even to find a job, even though most jobs have nothing to do with English. For some, it is a waste of time and resources for so many people to learn English.

On the other hand, it is believed that grasping a foreign language means obtaining a useful skill, which could make a person be able to fulfill more jobs and demands in the society.

To me, the most time-consuming task for students in China is learning English. They have to spend a lot of precious time reading, memorizing words, and doing exercises. To them, the only meaning in English learning is to deal with tests. Therefore, it is not necessary for all the people to learn English. (139 words)
